Does Organic Tea Tree Oil Work on Acne? - June 10th, 2011

We know that there are some herbs and oils that people swear by, but we’re often skeptical of remedies that offer no clinical proof. But natural ingredients are worth exploring because if they are just as effective as synthetic ingredients, they usually have far less side effects, and are healthier. The top ingredient in the treatment of acne right now is benzoyl peroxide. Let’s compare the effectiveness of this ingredient to that of tea tree oil in the treatment of acne.

Does it Eliminate Acne?

Scientists performed a test, comparing the effectiveness of tea tree oil as an acne treatment to benzoyl peroxide to see which was more effective. They found that both ingredients “had a significant effect in ameliorating the patients’ acne by reducing the number of inflamed and non-inflamed lesions.” This means that they were equally effective.

Does it Have Side Effects?

The study states that “fewer side effects were experienced by patients treated with tea-tree oil.” Common side effects associated with benzoyl peroxide are dry skin, redness, irritation, itching, and in the cases of those with sensitive skin, rashes and burning. Almost every person who uses benzoyl peroxide experiences moderate to severe dryness when they first apply it, but it often diminishes over time. With tea tree oil, your skin stays healthy for the duration of the treatment.

What Else Can Tea Tree Oil Do For Me?

This amazing oil is also proven to be effective as an anti-inflammatory. Anti-inflammatory ingredients are often found in skin creams and other cosmetics because they reduce redness and improve skin tone. In a study performed at the Department of Dermatology at the Flinders Medical Centre in Australia, it was discovered that volume of inflammation stimulated by the scientists “significantly decreased” after tea tree oil was applied.

It is important to find a product that is made of all-natural ingredients, as they are less likely to damage your skin and cause irritation. The best product we have found, which contains proven amounts of organic tea tree oil, as well as 6 other natural active ingredients, is ProNexin. Effective and safe even on the most sensitive skin, this product is backed by a 100% money-back guarantee, meaning that you can try it risk free. Acne Scars - September 21st, 2009

I am pretty sure that we all know someone who has had serious affects of acne at some point in their lives. I had friend with this problem and it left them with some pretty nasty scars on their face as a result. Luckily today there are all sorts of products on the market to help prevent serious acne breakouts from ever happening. Even with all of the research that has been done to try to stop this problem it is still one that exists with millions of people each year. There are now ways to try and repair the damage left behind from these acne issues.

One of the ways that I have seen is called dermabrasion. This process sounds very painful if you ask me. This process is done with a rotating wire brush or a spinning diamond instrument. They then remove the first layer of skin during this process. There is good news they at least give you some local anesthesia so you dont pass out from the pain. This does not sound like something that I would want to participate in to say the least. I really hope that some of these new creams that try to reduce the acne in the first place can help reduce the need for this type of ordeal.

Home Acne Remedies - September 16th, 2009

I was thinking of some of the weird things that I have put on my face during the course of my life. Only one thing really stuck out to me. I can’t recall when I was real young so the only thing I thought of was fairly recent. I was in a survivor game once and we had to do all sorts of crazy things. One of those things was to have your team smear molasses all over your face and then put as many snails on your face as they could. This moment definitely stood out as the most bizarre thing or things ever put on my face.

I mention this because I read an article about seaweed wraps that you can do on your face. I realize that this is not all that awful but it got me to thinking. How did all of this come about? At some point someone put some seaweed on their face and it felt kind of nice and they thought, I bet I could get millions of people to do this and I could make a million dollars. Most things come about by accident, someone stumbling on to something crazy. I did not think of the seaweed on your face or anything else for that matter, but I sure wish I would.

Stress & Acne - September 10th, 2009

This morning I woke up to what feels like a million little zits all over my face. I can’t explain why, they just showed up there. I have heard rumors that one cause of zits is the level of stress in your life. I am not sure what causes this phenomenon but I could say that this could be true in my case. I know that at this moment in my life there are things that are causing stress. When I speak of stress I don’t mean the normal kind involving my teenage son, pre-pubescent daughter, and an occasional space case for an eight year old son.

I mean the kind that it seems like a lot of people are having these days. I mean the kind where you go to work in hopes that you still have a job when you get there. Then asking myself if that happens, how will I keep a roof over the heads of my family? I know I am not alone when I speak of these stresses in my life. Why is it then, that I feel like the only one who is breaking out into a zit filled stress face? I guess I need to find a way to relieve this stress. I don’t really like the idea that every morning I wake up to see what new creation has formed on my face.

Rubbing Alcohol For Acne - September 9th, 2009

My friend was telling me that she suggested to her son to start using rubbing alcohol to help his zits dry up and go away faster. The thought of covering your face with rubbing alcohol sounds horrible. I imagine coming away from that with a bright red face that looks and feels like a terrible wind burn. I guess if you only applied the rubbing alcohol to one or two of the bigger zits on your face to help them dry up, that would maybe be okay.

But please, the thought of giving your face a whole once over with rubbing alcohol just sounds painful. If you look at the ingredients in some of the zit products out there, I think that you will find a lot of rubbing alcohol as an ingredient. I think they do this because it is a cheap space filler to add to their other more expensive ingredients. That is why a lot of the cleansers and other products tend to dry the face out quite a bit. I don’t think at any time I would resort to the full on alcohol treatment unless I was in a situation where that was my only option. It’s important to really take good care of the skin on your face, because it is more sensitive than other skin on your body.

Over The Counter Acne Treatments - September 7th, 2009

I heard a commercial the other day on the t.v. stating that any amount of acne that a person has is a medical problem. Of course the t.v. commercial was for a new prescription product that you would have to see a doctor in order to get. It makes me wonder if that is true, that you must see a doctor for any acne, of if they are just saying that to sell their product. There are so many different products out there, and I have tried some personally that work just fine.

I don’t think at any time the amount of acne I had growing up was enough to see a doctor about. I believe I was able to manage my acne just fine on my own, with a little over the counter product and a little tender loving care. Sure there were always those kids that I went to school with, often referred to as “pizza face” (which I thought was extremely rude), that really did need to see a doctor for help with their acne. I even had a sister with some real acne issues that went to a doctor for help, only to find that a lot of her problems were the result of an allergy to eggs. I personally don’t want to medicate myself for just anything, and if there is a way to control any medical issue without drugs, I believe that you should.

Overnight Zit Cream - September 5th, 2009

Have you ever seen anyone with their face cream on in the middle of the night? When I was in college I came home in the middle of the night. As I came in the door the bathroom light was on in my dorm. I headed toward the bathroom when out popped my roommate. I recall screaming like a little girl and looking at my roommate wondering what happened to their face. I composed myself long enough to stop screaming and ask “what did you do to your face”?

Upon closer review of what I thought was a monster, I realized that my roommate had put zit cream all over their face. They really looked like a victim from Texas Chain Saw Massacre. My roommate explained that this was a test product to help reduce acne. I later ended up trying this product and found that it really worked. If you use these products just remember to warn those who may be unsuspecting. I never went in the direction of the bathroom again until I knew what was going on and who was in there. You never know what you might see if your not careful. Try a known zit cream if you have even a small problem, it works you will be amazed.

Fighting Severe Acne - August 27th, 2009

I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for these new skin products that help to relieve serious or even minor acne problems. I used to have a moderate acne problem that really was a problem for my self esteem. I did not have a lot of confidence and did not really want to talk to people. The face to face interaction was nearly paralyzing to me. I knew that the other person was staring at my face. I then noticed that I was secluding myself from others so that I would not be faced with this feeling of self doubt.

I then saw a commercial for one of these acne creams that promised to clear up skin in just a matter of days. At this point in my life this really got my attention. At first I thought this was another one of those gimmicks and I was not going to participate in something like this. It took me a couple of months to decide that I should give this a try. I finally took the plunge and purchased this product with the idea that it probably won’t make it worse. Once I started it took a couple of weeks and I really began to notice a difference and after a month I was amazed. I now would recommend these types of products to anyone. Give it a chance and you too will be amazed!

Mud Mask - August 21st, 2009

Have you ever tried one of those mud masks? They make your face feel so clean and refreshing. I have to admit that the first time I tried a mud mask I was really grossed out. It smelt was just like I was putting warm mud from out in the puddle directly onto my face. It actually looked like real mud to. In fact, the label stated that it was some sort of mud from a very far away, and hard to get place. It felt weird doing this, and I just had to wonder if I was going to like the end result.

I had to leave the mud on my face for about fifteen minutes, and then it was time for the big reveal. At this point, my expectations were not very high. I was anxious to get the mud off my face and be done with the whole thing. I was pleasantly surprised that as the mud came off, and I felt my skin, it felt amazing. I’m not sure that the appearance was anything spectacular, but the way that it felt made up for that. I don’t often do myself a mud mask, but I will say that it was one of the better things I have tried for my skin. Maybe if I tried one with a more pleasant smell and appearance it would make this experience even better.

Winter Skincare - August 18th, 2009

The worst time of year for my skin is the winter months. It is usually freezing outside, and windy a lot of the time, snowing plenty of the time, or just plain old dreary to look out the window. The cold and the wind don’t make my skin any healthier either. To make matters worse, you are trapped indoors quite often with the heater blazing, or a fire burning. Sure it may seem dreamy to sit by the fire on a cold winter’s day, sort of like what you might see on a movie.

But it does tend to get old after a while. When it’s March or April and the wind is howling with snow is gently falling SIDEWAYS, it’s all you can do to not get online and book yourself a vacation to Hawaii! Your skin is so dry that when you wear black, you get skin flakes all over and look like you are wearing polka dots! Polka dots are not exactly a fashion statement for a male. The best thing you can do at this point is to get yourself a good loofa sponge, a good exfoliating scrub, and a great moisturizer. Just be certain that you don’t over hydrate your face, or in turn you will get a zit or two. And nobody wants zits!
